If location is priority for your family holiday, it’s hard to beat the seaside beauty of the Big4 Dongara Denison Beach Holiday Park.
Dongara Port Denison is the closest park to the ocean in Western Australia. It enjoys an idyllic beachfront location at one of the brightest spots on the west coast, sited alongside the well-serviced town and the busy port, with sophisticated facilities for boats at the marina along with the luxury of the holiday park.
It is renown as an extremely tidy park with a fabulous location where you can watch unforgettable sunsets.
As a bonus, it’s also just under four hours north of Perth making it comfortably within reach for a family break. And there’s just so much to do here.
Dongara Port Denison is the region’s Lobster Capital of Western Australia and from June to October each year this region also boasts the most beautiful natural array of wildflowers to be seen in Australia.
Thousands of flower and orchid varieties seem to pop up everywhere displaying their wonderful palette of colours, making BIG4 Dongara Denison Beach Holiday Park the perfect place to base yourself to visit the surrounding wildflowers.
The park is a relaxed and friendly environment with stunning views for those who want to chill. Or for those wanting activity, you can get involved with all things water, surfing, fishing or windsurfing.
In the beginning the park was very basic and a bit tired but under the new owners the place really took on a new life.
A new amenities block and laundry were built. En suite sites were created which are sites where caravan travellers can pull up their caravan and have the use of their own shower and toilet.
Over the years it has had many additions of newer accommodation and camp kitchen and bbq area. Most recently four new water-front superior chalets, two 2×1 chalets and two 3×2 chalets were added.
The park now has a huge range of accommodation options to suit any family and any budget. It has six cabins; six waterfront beach houses; 12 waterfront chalets; and the four superior waterfront chalets.
For the caravaners, there’s also 14 ensuite sites; 27 powered sites; and two unpowered sites.
It’s family and customer focussed, too! On Thursday evenings the managers put on nibblies from 4.30pm in the bbq area where customers can BYO drinks and socialise.
On Sunday mornings the managers cook a complimentary pancake breakfast for the guests in the bbq area between 9am and 9.30am.
Dongara Port Denison is not the only top-quality site north of Perth. Ningaloo Caravan and Holiday Resort was bought by current owners in January 2021 and since then, renovations have been substantial and brought the park up to among the best in the country.
Renovations started with a brand new camp kitchen and then extended to the amenities blocks and then an additional brand new amenities block.
Upgraded and improved and added are a large 25m kidney-shaped tropical swimming pool with Bali huts; an onsite restaurant ‘BBQ Father’ which overlooks the waterfall and alfresco dining area; and an expansive BBQ area with kids outdoor play equipment.
There’s also an Italian deli and espresso bar offering coffee, cakes, gourmet paninis, and antipasto platters. It is open six days a week for dine in and take away. It also stocks essential store items, making it handy for caravaners.
The resort now boasts 30 chalets; four park homes; 250 powered sites; 40 unpowered sites; and 10 private rooms which have a bed and air conditioning with guests using the amenities blocks.
It also has free wi-fi, has easy access facilities for wheelchair users; and free on-site parking.
South of Perth at Denmark is the Big4 Denmark Ocean Beach Holiday Park. Recently, the owners have made further upgrades by adding seven new two-bedroom cabins.
The resort was bought in 2006 and renovated over two years before becoming a Big4 branded park. It is a location where family fun adventure meets tranquility and beautiful serenity, just a short stroll from the iconic Ocean Beach.
It has a variety of options to suit everyone’s holiday needs, from a spacious and luxurious ‘Superior’ three-bedroom or two-bedroom ‘Chalet’ or ‘Cabin’ set in pristine surrounds.
As an example, the ‘Superior’ chalet is a large modern chalet with quality furnishings and lovely presentation.
It features a bathroom with separate toilet, master and second bedroom with sleeping for five people (including linen), lounges in spacious living area, and an outdoor deck overlooking the grounds with sea view glances.
Kitchen facilities including cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, fridge and with stove top and microwave, TV/DVD, reverse cycle air conditioning, additional heating, iron and ironing board.
Available are two spa chalets; 10 chalets; two brand new 2 x 1 villas; three brand new 3 x 2 villas; 234 powered sites; and 120 unpowered sites. Guests have access to two camp kitchens — with TV, heating, three ablution blocks and a laundry — along with BBQ areas.
The property has large manicured flat sites that welcome all size of caravans and tents, making it perfect for your home-away-from-home real bush camping experience with all the modern facilities.
There has been the addition of a new playground with a flying fox, a jumping pillow, tennis courts and beach volleyball court, mini golf course, tennis courts and now has go-karts ands pedal-cars for hire.
This park is full of wildlife with many kangaroos lounging about the place. A five minute walk from the beautiful Ocean Beach.
