Moreton Bay: a mecca of adventure, fun and food

From fishing, swimming and canoeing, to bushwalking, hiking and straight up adventure, the Moreton Bay region is a hub for all things fun. From quiet beaches to scenic trails, there’s a world of natural wonders to explore.

Less than an hour from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, lie places like Woodford, Redcliffe and Bribie Island. These, along with the arts and culture of Dayboro and little getaway spots like Delaney’s Creek are just some of what makes Moreton Bay great.

Redcliffe, along with surrounding locales like Deception Bay, Woody Point, Mango Hill and Scarborough, are home to tourist jaunts like Bee Gees Way (a homage to the iconic band), Sutton’s Beach, and a museum.

You’ll also find regular farmers’ and artisan markets, and some epically good restaurants and cafes to feed your appetite. A coastal gem, there’s a bevy of opportunities to explore.

If it’s natural beauty you seek, then Bribie Island could be the answer to your prayers. From pristine beaches to captivating landscapes, it offers a tranquil escape that’s within easy reach. There’s even a butterfly house.

Nearby Woodford is a small country town that packs a big punch when it comes to attractions (including a rather large folk festival), cool shops, swimming holes and the Bellthorpe National Park.

The latter is located at the southern end of the Conondale Range, west of the Glass House Mountains, and is considered a haven for 4wd enthusiasts. It’s also a great place for a day trip out in nature.

Dayboro too has plenty to offer, with the charming village nestled in the heart of Moreton Bay. Despite its small size, it’s a treasure trove of creativity and character, with quirky cafes, antique stores, and unique craft and gift shops.

In the waters of Moreton Bay, you’ll find playful dolphins and graceful sea turtles, rare birds, and during their migration, humpback whales. On land, there’s an array of choices too, including farm experiences, wildlife sanctuaries and 4WD tours.

When you’re done trekking, you’ll need a place to stay, and there’s plenty of choices spread out across the region. From motels like Best Western Plus North Lakes, to caravan parks like the Big4 Sandstone Point, there’s something for everyone.

Large camping grounds, bush camps and off-road caravan friendly options are numerous too, for those keen to get amongst nature and enjoy the peace and tranquility places like Rosedale Estate for example, bring to travelers.

The 76-acre country property provides stunning picturesque views of the Glass House Mountains and is home to cattle and alpacas. Complete with self-contained toilet and shower facilities, it offers multiple spots to set up camp and stay. There’s a running freshwater creek to camp alongside, and campfires are welcome too, with a fire pit provided. Situated close to the historic rural town of Woodford, the Estate is a fantastic venue.
