For locals and visitors to Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Pittwater offers beautiful clean waterways with an abundance of fishing opportunities.
Featured Fish
The main target species found in these wondrous waters are King Fish, Flathead and Jewfish. In this fishing utopia, you can also cast your eye and line on, squid, yellowtail, mackerel, tailor and certain breeds of shark. If none of these tickles your fancy you can also find trevally and bream. Fishing in Pittwater provides plenty of options for fishermen of all levels and experience.
Don’t forget to adjust your bait and line-length for your target varietals. The jewfish, for example, like to hang around the bottom of the seabed but the grounds here are not flat so it can take a while to find the right length.
Family Fun
In the Pittwater area, there are many sheltered beach spots for families to spend the day. For example, date visitors to most of Pittwater’s beaches will find plenty of signature palm trees to use for shade. The centralised Bayview Boat Ramp offers easy access for big boats to head offshore. From here family boats can also head up the Hawkesbury River for a great day out.

If you’re looking to make a weekend trip, or even stay a bit longer, there are plenty of local accommodation options. From holiday parks for the kids to run and play to four-star resorts and cosy bed and breakfasts.
Boating Bliss
The Formosa Dual Console 580 (pictured above) is a great family and fishing boat, perfectly suited to Pittwater. It is extremely stable and is both quiet, yet extremely robust for easy beach access, thanks to its plate aluminium build. Formosa’s boats are Australian owned and built to withstand our unpredictable climate. They’ve been tried and tested by hundreds of Australian adventurers and will no-doubt take you where you want to go.
We recommend heading out in one of these babies and exploring all that Pittwater has to offer!
