Essentials to Pack on your 4WD Adventure

Are you getting ready for a 4WD adventure of a lifetime? In amongst all the excitement of planning your route, it can become easy to forget to pack essential items that will help your trip be safer and more enjoyable. Remember the important items with our 5 essentials for packing your 4wd.

1. Waterproof clothing

No matter what time of year you are planning your trip, you should always bring a few items of waterproof clothing. Many individuals make the mistake of not packing waterproof clothing because their trip is planned during the drier months, however, waterproof clothing should be worn during water sport activities such as kayaking and canoeing to ensure you stay dry. This will also help prepare you for any unexpected summer rain.

2. Maps

In the era of smartphones and sat navs, physical maps can often seem like a relic from the past. The beauty of 4WD adventures is their freedom, allowing you to travel away from crowds and off-road. This, however, can mean that you travel to locations with little or poor reception. Should your phone or navigation device stop working, it’s always a good idea to have a physical map as a backup.

3. Fuel

Fuel for your 4WD vehicle is just as important as fuel for yourself. Always set off on your adventure with a full tank and have an idea of where to refuel your vehicle along the chosen route, a backup jerry can never go astray either. Similarly, you should be packing your 4wd with a supply of water and food that doesn’t require refrigeration. Such as cereal bars and nuts, to keep you going on your journey as you travel between your destinations.

4. Extra storage

Fitting everything into your 4WD may feel like playing a game of Tetris. When setting out on your adventure you may feel as though everything is packed neatly in its place, but you can accumulate additional items along the way. Items such as dirty clothing and rubbish that can’t be cleaned or disposed of straight away will need to be stored separate from your other belongings. Packing additional containers and rubbish bags that attach to your wheels can be particularly useful whilst camping.
